What is a cookie?

Cookies are text files containing small amounts of information which are downloaded to your personal computer, mobile or other device when you visit a website. Cookies are then sent back to the originating website on each subsequent visit, or to another website that recognises that cookie. Cookies are useful because they allow a website to recognise a user’s device.

Persistent cookies - these cookies remain on a user’s device for the period of time specified in the cookie. They are activated each time that the user visits the website that created that particular cookie.

Session cookies - these cookies allow website operators to link the actions of a user during a browser session. A browser session starts when a user opens the browser window and finishes when they close the browser window. Session cookies are created temporarily. Once you close the browser, all session cookies are deleted.

Cookies do lots of different jobs, like letting you navigate between pages efficiently, remembering your preferences, and generally improve the user experience. They can also help to ensure that adverts you see online are more relevant to you and your interests.

You can find more information about cookies at www.allaboutcookies.org and www.youronlinechoices.eu.

Cookies used on the Website

A list of all the cookies used on the Website by category is set out below.

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies enable services you have specifically asked for. For those types of cookies that are strictly necessary, no consent is required.

These cookies are essential in order to enable you to move around the Website and use its features, such as accessing secure areas of the Website. Without these cookies services you have asked for, like shopping baskets or e-billing, cannot be provided.

Performance cookies

These cookies collect anonymous information on the pages visited. By using the Website, you agree that we can place these types of cookies on your device.

These cookies collect information about how visitors use the Website, for instance which pages visitors go to most often, and if they get error messages from web pages. These cookies don’t collect information that identifies a visitor. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. It is only used to improve how the Website works.

Functionality cookies

These cookies remember choices you make to improve your experience. By using the Website, you agree that we can place these types of cookies on your device.

These cookies allow the Website to remember choices you make (such as your user name, language or the region you are in) and provide enhanced, more personal features. These cookies can also be used to remember changes you have made to text size, fonts and other parts of web pages that you can customise. They may also be used to provide services you have asked for such as watching a video or commenting on a blog. The information these cookies collect may be anonymised and they cannot track your browsing activity on other websites.

Targeting or advertising cookies

These cookies collect information about your browsing habits in order to make advertising relevant to you and your interests.

These cookies are used to deliver adverts more relevant to you and your interests. They are also used to limit the number of times you see an advertisement as well as help measure the effectiveness of the advertising campaign. They are usually placed by advertising networks with our permission. They remember that you have visited a website and this information is shared with other organisations such as advertisers. Quite often targeting or advertising cookies will be linked to site functionality provided by the other organisation.

Behavioural advertising and online privacy

A guide to behavioural advertising and online privacy has been produced by the internet advertising industry which can be found at www.youronlinechoices.eu. The guide contains an explanation of the IAB’s self-regulatory scheme to allow you greater control of the advertising you see.
Using browser settings to manage cookies

The Help menu on the menu bar of most browsers will tell you how to prevent your browser from accepting new cookies, how to have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie and how to disable cookies altogether. You can also disable or delete similar data used by browser add-ons, such as Flash cookies, by changing the add-on's settings or visiting the website of its manufacturer.

However, because cookies allow you to take advantage of some of the Website’s essential features, we recommend you leave them turned on. For example, if you block or otherwise reject cookies you will not be able to add items to your Shopping Basket, proceed to Checkout, or use any of our products and services that require you to Sign in. If you leave cookies turned on, remember to sign off when you finish using a shared computer.

How we use cookies

A cookie is a small file which asks permission to be placed on your computer's hard drive. Once you agree, the file is added and the cookie helps analyse web traffic or lets you know when you visit a particular site. Cookies allow web applications to respond to you as an individual. The web application can tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences.

We use traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used. This helps us analyse data about web page traffic and improve our website in order to tailor it to customer needs. We only use this information for statistical analysis purposes and then the data is removed from the system.

Overall, cookies help us provide you with a better website, by enabling us to monitor which pages you find useful and which you do not. A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us. You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. This may prevent you from taking full advantage of the website.

health4youonline.com - Since 2002

health4youonline.com was one of the first sites offering nutritional health supplements online in the UK. Based in the UK, for nearly 20 years we have provided top quality nutritional supplements to customers worldwide and practitioners in the UK.

Only The finest brands and support from brand manufacturers

We research all brands of health supplement on our site. For all the leading brands we only purchase direct from the brand manufacturer. There are good reasons for this. We have a close relationship with them and many are favoured suppliers to professional nutritional experts and dieticians for their patients.

This means:

  • The quality of raw materials and manufacturing process is of the highest quality.
  • You can be sure that the supplements have excellent "use by" dates.
  • We are constantly updated with product changes and information
  • We have access to they clinical teams in case their are any queries about suitability of products
  • You can be assured that where replacement products are required, they will be available
  • That brand manufacturers have tested our facilities and staff knowledge of products to ensure products are properly stored and customer queries van be effectively dealt with.

You will find on our "brands" page, links to each brand manufacturer's products. Many of them operate a recommended retailer scheme, for example BioCareLamberts, Higher Nature and Solgar. All of these brands are major suppliers to professional nutritionists.

This means you can reply on the products. In fact, some years ago, one of these brands made a decision to cut the number of retailers with outlets for their products to only one tenth of those it currently had. They did this because it meant they had full control of their products and the quality of outlets and while it had the potential to reduce their business sales, they found it more important to retain their brand awareness quality (but see "why is this important" below). Health4youonline.com is a recommend retailer for all of these brands.

Why is this important?

There are many websites providing health supplements. They vary enormously:

  • Many provide very inexpensive products that lack rigorous manufacturing processes and top quality raw ingredients. This means the supplements are often ineffective. The same often applies to the rather cheap brands often offered by supermarkets.
  • Many sites obtain their supplies from wholesalers other than the brand manufacturers themselves. This means that the manufacturer has no control over the quality of storage of the products.
  • There is an extra layer in the process (the wholesaler), which can lead to higher prices for the same product.
  • There have been many instances of sellers buying up bankrupt stock, which often has poor "use by" dates and there is no guarantee about how the goods have been stored.
  • There have been a number of cases of sellers actually selling for prices below that which they could possibly have purchased them for. Even some obtained by fraudulent means and then resold via organisations like Amazon and eBay, where there is a huge problem with quality control of products, or indeed of sellers. Many of the major brands have banned the sale of their goods on these outlets but it has proved impossible for them to effectively police the activity. You should be aware of any risks you may be taking, simply by going for the cheapest price at these outlets.

Great Service

In spite of the fact that we have supplied thousands of customers, we still believe that personal customer service is key to customer satisfaction and therefore our own success.

Success is important to any business of course, but achieving it is not just a case of great service and products; it's also about how you conduct your business. It may sound strange to say that top of our priority list is 'family comes first'. Our businesses and our jobs are vitally important to all of us but we run our business with the reasonable assumption (we think) that our staff and their families come first. If that seems at odds with the statement that 'the customer is always right', we don't think it is. Every member of our staff is treated as a 'partner' in our venture' and, by extension, so are their families. There is no doubt that this creates a friendly and motivated work environment, which spins across to great customer service.
