Potassium (macro-mineral) official and suggested dietary intake levels:
The Government RDA for this important nutrient is 2000mg daily. However, in their publication ‘Dietary reference values for food energy and nutrients for the U.K’ (HMSO 1991) they clearly state that they can not find any negative issues associated with potassium intake below 17,600mg daily. From research we know that the average person consumes approximately 2 – 3,000mg daily and we therefore believe that a good optimum supplementary level over and above the normal dietary intake would be 300mg – 1000mg of elemental potassium daily.
