More and more of us are beginning to realise the benefits of Serrapeptase, but what exactly is it?

Technically it is called Serratiopeptidase and it is a proteolytic enzyme. This means that it dissolves or digests proteins, breaking them down into peptides and ultimately, amino acids.

How was Serrapeptase discovered

It was originally discovered from the friendly bacteria living in the gut of the silkworm and secreted in saliva. It ends up as Serrapeptase which (significantly) eats away at the dead tissue of the cocoon and releases the silkworm.

How Does Serrapeptse Work?

Because it eats dead tissue it is thought to help accelerated healing as well as healthy sinus activity, normal fluid retention, joint mobility, post surgical recovery and removal of waste fluids. All of these issues are caused by inflammation which Serrapeptase apparently significantly reduces but without-t the unpleasant side effects of most anti-inflammatory drugs (or indeed any other contra-indications.

Some versions of Serrapaptase supplements have other ingredients because they are designed for more specific purposes. For example Serraplus+ also contains MSM because it is aimed towards those who need it for connective tissue adjoint support.
