Characteristics of Bronchitis
Bronchitis is an infection or irritation of the bronchial tree
(the tubes leading down into the lungs. The inflammation leads to a build-up of mucous. Main symptoms of bronchitis are coughing, pain in the chest and/or back,
fatigue, sore throat, fever, difficulty in breathing and sudden chills.
Chronic bronchitis is often caused by irritation from cigarette smoke and
other poisonous fumes, as well as allergies, dust, dampness and cold.

Advice for bronchitis

Avoid mucus-forming foods such as dairy products,
sugar, white flour, processed foods and excess bananas.
Drink at least 1½ litres of spring or filtered
water every day, at room temperature or warmer.
Eat plenty of garlic and onions, and some radishes
and mustard.
Eat lots of fresh (preferably organic) vegetables
and fruit.

Blow up a balloon a few times every day to
strengthen the lungs.
Invest in an air purifier, particularly for the
bedroom and workplace if possible.
Consult a nutrition consultant or herbalist for
more detailed and individual help.
Do not allow bronchitis to turn into pneumonia.
