Irritable Male Syndrome
It’s not just
women who are susceptible to shifting hormones. Depression, fatigue,
irritability, loss of sex drive and even hot flashes are symptoms of
Irritable Male Syndrome. Furthermore, it’s now scientific fact that
middle-aged men go through a menopause, as women do. Men with low levels
of testosterone who had not been treated with supplemental hormone
showed significantly higher levels of depression, anger, fatigue and
confusion than did men with acceptable testosterone levels. During
testosterone replacement therapy, these men had less depression, anger,
fatigue and confusion.
A long-term
prospective study of the physiologic and behavioural effects of hormone
replacement in untreated hypogonadal men – A. S. burris et al. Journal
of Andrology 1992; 13(4): 297-304.
Tomatoes may prevent prostate cancer
Data suggests that
eating tomatoes (high in lycopene) and tomato products may prevent
certain cancers. Although fresh tomatoes contain lycopene, cooked
tomatoes are a better source, and cooking tomatoes in olive oil enhances
the absorption of lycopene. Studies suggest that men consume tomato
sauce twice a week if they want to reduce their risk of prostate cancer
by 30%.

Lycopene
also
improves male fertility. Indian researchers report that men given 250mg
daily of lycopene for 3 months experienced as much as a 60% increase in
sperm concentration and motility.
Red meat
good for male fertility
Zinc is critical to
a man’s potency. Even short-term losses of the nutrient can reduce
semen volume, sperm count and testosterone production, making conception
difficult. The typical Western diet is too low in zinc, and the supply
can be reduced even further by alcohol and medications. Red meat is one
of the best food sources of zinc. Just adding 5mg of folic acid to 66mg
of zinc can really help sperm to ‘concentrate’ on the business at
hand.

Improve
Energy Levels with High Strength Magnesium
It’s not just
athletes who suffer from aching, tired muscles and symptoms of fatigue.
The stresses and strains of modern day living have made these complaints
all too common among many people every day. Conditions ranging from PMS
associated muscular cramps and sports related muscle spasms, to more
severe cases of fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue are becoming
increasingly common. Fortunately there are simple nutritional steps
which can be taken, incorporating high strength magnesium
supplementation, to help combat these complaints.

Ulcers: Is
Mastic Gum the Breakthrough in Ulcer Treatment?
Six
million people a year in Britain are affected by ulcers. Although they
become more common with age, they are, according to the Digestive
Disorders Foundation, becoming increasingly prevalent among younger
people.
Until
recently, it was generally thought that ulcers were caused by stress,
spicy food and/or excess stomach acid. While this may be somewhat true,
it is now thought that up to 90 per cent of peptic ulcers result from a
stomach infection caused by the bacteria Helicobacter
pylori (H. pylori).
