The role of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) enzymes in connective

injury the body releases enzymes that break down connective tissue.
Matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) enzymes are proteolytic enzymes that
are designed to specifically break down connective tissues. They are
released by a number of different cells, including chondrocytes, and
work to break down collagen tissues as part of tissue remodelling.
