Prunes, Fig and Date Concentrates
Views vary as to what constitutes irregularity but most now agree
that anyone who passes hard stools and does so less than three times
a week is considered to be irregular. The most common cause of this
problem is a low intake of fibre. Whilst our Department of Health
recommends 18 to 20g of fibre per day, we typically only eat 8 to
10g.
Prunes, figs and dates are all fruits that have traditionally been
used to increase the intake of fibre in the diet. So here Lamberts
have concentrated all three to provide a tasty natural blend and
added a special natural soluble fibre called FOS that has been
extracted from chicory roots. FOS is known to act as a prebiotic,
which encourages the friendly bacteria in the bowel to flourish and
this can help maintain regularity by gently stimulating the bowel
wall.
Just 10ml (2 teaspoons) provides over 5 grams of soluble fibre. Not
only is it easy to use but pleasant to taste and appropriate for
those 5 years and over.
Ingredients:
Fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS), Prune Juice Concentrate, Fig Juice
Concentrate, Date Juice Concentrate, Apple Juice Concentrate, Tri
Sodium Citrate, Potassium Sorbate.
Suggested Intake:
Children 5 to 15 years: take 5-10ml (1-2 teaspoons) daily.
Adults: take an initial dose of 10ml (2 teaspoons) daily, for the
first 3 days and then a full dose of 20ml (4 teaspoons) daily for a
least 2 weeks. A maintenance dose of 10-20ml (2-4 teaspoons) can
then be taken.
Take as above or as directed by a practitioner or pharmacist. Do not
exceed recommended daily dose.
Shake well before use.
Food supplements should not be a substitute for a varied diet.
Please Note:
An inadequate fluid intake is a also a prime cause of
irregularity – approximately 1.5 litres of fluid a day is needed to
supply sufficient water for the digestive system to keep waste
matter soft and bulky. Any less than this is likely to lead to dry
and hard faeces that are difficult to pass. Patients on Fibrecleanse®
should drink at least 1.5 litres of fluids per day.
Lamberts
Lamberts is the UK's leading
supplier of food supplements to health professionals. All Lamberts product
formulations are based on an in-depth understanding of the latest nutritional
research. Their strategy is to develop only those products that are
supported by a valid scientific rationale and this has led health professionals
to rely on Lamberts for nutritional and herbal supplements that provide
relevant levels of active ingredients. Lamberts products are produced
in their own factory which is one of the most modern and technically
advanced in Europe and which operates to stringent pharmaceutical standards
of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and is approved by the UK Department
of Health, Medicines Control Agency. Each product manufactured by Lamberts
is subjected to a series of rigorous tests ranging from analysis of
the raw materials through to tests on the product whilst it is being
made as well as the finished product itself to ensure they meet the
specifications given on the label. Lamberts work in conjunction with
several research departments at Universities through the UK to conduct
studies on a number of topics ranging from the use of magnesium in asthma
through to anthocyanidins and fluid retention. Many of Lamberts products
are of a higher potency than you would normally find in retail products.
The reason for this is that the active ingredients in their products
are included at relevant levels as opposed to just token levels.
