Cabbage and liquorice are traditional foods used for
centuries; the former for supporting the digestive system and
the latter as a herbal remedy. Concentrated extracts of
cabbage are referred to as cabagin and contain vitamin U, an
anti-ulcer factor. The preferred form of liquorice is
deglycyrrhizinated (DGY) liquorice, which can be used for long
periods without upsetting potassium levels. Zinc is added to
help maintain the natural defences of the intestinal mucosal
barrier and for tissue repair.
